Mother Of Mankind
The Mother of Mankind show is a musical exploration of the African continent, one country at a time. On his ‘journey’ around Africa, resident Tom Rickey has interviewed Senegalese Kora player Seckou Keita, Cuban pianist Omar Sosa, Gnawa musician Simo Lagnawi, The Zawose Queens, Namibian artist Shishani and Hibotep of Somalia, among others. Having studied ethnomusicology at Uni, resident Tom Rickey explores not just the music but some of the cultural context and history surrounding the music.
