Future Pop - songs i like rn that i've been listening to in 2026
23.02.26This month’s Future Pop is all about ‘songs I like right now that I’ve been listening to in 2026’. After reading Blank Space: A Cultural History of the 21st Century by W. David Marx, it’s felt even clearer to me that derivative, safe, sanitised music is being privileged more and more in the mainstream. This trend isn’t new, but it runs counter to the idea of ‘future pop’ and the ways radical innovation can still exist within these spaces.
That’s not to say people aren’t pushing boundaries elsewhere, but trend cycles and nostalgia still dominate. Today’s show is a look at great music both with and without pop sensibilities that actually feels exciting and just generally, well written with clear intentionality. Expect tracks from Jam City, Sophia Stel, weed420, nate sib, Hekt, Proc Fiskal and more.

Future Pop
Future Pop explores how popular music and experimentalism combine in nuanced ways to create sonic worlds informed by rich cultural tapestries and visions of the future. Spanning the work of Stockhausen to SOPHIE, Future Pop is dedicated to showcasing radical pop music across history and shining a light on a style of music that is regularly disregarded by critics due to its existence within commercial spaces.
